This is a common word in Japanese. Whenever people have some goal they are looking to achieve or are struggling with something, Japanese people tell them to to do this. It is simply a verb and doesn't really have an English equivalent, but it is a universal concept of never giving up and fighting for what you desire in life. -Vincent
